Schools

The formation of our children is first and foremost the responsibility of the parents, and is something that needs to be modeled in our homes. Thankfully, the Church has made it possible for parents to work alongside the greater Catholic community in helping shape the Church’s youngest members.

Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Vancouver, as a faith community, are committed to excellence in Catholicity and in all areas that promote the development of the whole child to his or her full potential.

Our Lady of Fatima Early Learning Center is a licensed, non-profit, Catholic, Parish run Early Learning Center for children 2.5 years old to 4 years old. Each class consists of 16 children and two fully qualified Early Childhood educators who follow all licensing regulations as well as the British Columbia Early Learning Framework. The educators connect with BCs new Curriculum and Core Competencies and concepts in the framework. The children's ideas are interwoven and inspired by the educators working with the children. We believe that the children learn best through play, in a faith based environment and the teacher's guide and extend their learning. They are exposed to a variety of materials that help develop their faith and language development, social and emotional development, cognitive development, fine and gross motor skills. There is also an introductory French language component. Children who complete our program will be prepared for a French immersion or an English kindergarten program. As Early Childhood Educators, we use all our training, intuition and resources of colleagues, parents, and the children themselves to help each child reach his or her maximum potential. The children are required to bring lunch and two healthy snacks. The hours of care 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM coincide with the Our Lady of Fatima Elementary school which makes it convenient for parents at drop off and pick up time. The program runs from September to June. The ELC is closed on Pro D Days and follows the OLF school's calendar. We currently have the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative Funding in place to help with the costs of the program. Some parents as well may qualify for the Affordable Child Care Benefit which you can apply for online. We look forward to meeting and working with you and your child soon! Please put your child on the waitlist as this program is currently in high demand. Our hope is that with the help of our program children become learners for life in a fun, play based educational setting which values all children as individuals. We look forward to sharing more about our program with you.

We offer a licensed Before/Aftercare faith based program for children in Kindergarten to grade 7 that attend Our Lady of Fatima Elementary school. This program's hours of operation are before school from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM and the after school from 2:45 to 6:00 PM. The kindergarten and grade 1 children have their own program suitable for this younger age grouping. There is 1 responsible adult/ staff per 12 children in this age grouping. From grade 2 to grade 7 the child staff ratio is 1 responsible adult/ staff to 15 children. We strive to set a foundation of success for the child both in school and in life. The program allows for homework time, free play time, outdoor time and creative art time as well as other fun events. We have a license currently for a total of 42 children. The program occupies the Fatima church lower level as well as in the ELC portable depending on the age grouping. Both groups use the lower school playground and field as well as local parks i.e. Burns Park. We pick up the children for early dismissal days and some pro-d day care if we have the minimum children to do this type of programming. No Christmas break or spring break provided as most of our families use community center day camps or use the time for family vacations. We are an affordable program with the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative in place. The children are required to bring healthy snacks to eat after school. After school the kindergarten and grade 1 are picked up from their classroom and grade 2 to grade 7 meet their care staff at the flagpole. Safety and good communication with parents is our priority in providing great care for your child. We look forward to placing your child in our program and getting to know you and your child. Parents are their first teachers and we recognize the knowledge that you share with us about your child is so valuable. It is advisable to go on the waitlist as this program is in great demand. Having your children attend a quality program where they are safe and cared for is our goal.
